I was once cleaning out my purse, and, like normal, I had thrown out some rappers, old receipts, used gift cards, and lastly pennies. this didn't alarm me because, how often do we actually use pennies. it takes 100 to get even a dollar.
When I was 18 i traveled to Africa for the first time, also for the first time... I didn't know what to do or how to help these beautiful people. One day, a precious little girl, handed me a wore out fake pearl and said it was to remember her by (Uganda is called the pearl of Africa). I only had 1 penny. Which is basically nothing to me, I gave it to her and she looked at me like I had given her much much more. Ever since that VERY small interaction with that beautiful little girl I have saved pennies.
I actually have a new adventures fund, I still empty out my purse often but now I save all of my change into a jar. when it's filled I do something new on a small budget.
So even though 1 penny on it's own can seem close to useless, it's the start to something new and to someone somewhere it's much much more. treasure even the pennies.
